There are many elements to what TriMuskoka is all about…
We Are A Triathlon Club
TriMuskoka is a very active triathlon club. The TriMuskoka Triathlon Club members and coaches are very committed to supporting athlete development regardless of whether members are new to the sport or have many miles under their belts. Muskoka is well known for our summer cottaging playground, and as such our club is welcoming to local cottagers and visitors, as much as it is to our local community residents. Our top priorities are to ensure that we create an open and accessible club environment that provides goal oriented training which will help our club members reach their goals. The TriMuskoka workouts are available to all active club members on our online club website, TeamSnap, so even if you cannot make the workouts in person, you have a structured training plan to follow. All of our workouts are geared towards our club target events, and races that are identified is to ensure that every club member achieves his or her goals. We provide sport specific education and leading edge training for all levels of athletes. From OAT sanctioned workouts, seminars, training camps and social events our club is there for you every stroke, pedal and step of the way!
We Share Your Passion
Since our inception, TriMuskoka has worked diligently to ensure that our area hosts the greatest array of endurance sporting events, including our own signature events, The TriMuskokan Short Course Triathlon and Try-a-Tri and the TriMuskoka Winter Indoor Triathlon Classic. Muskoka plays host to a wide variety of endurance sporting events that range from road and trail running events, marathon paddling events, kids triathlons to Ironman branded events. All of these events occur both on the roads, as well as nestled in the forests that give Muskoka its natural beauty. The pristine lakes, fabulous terrain, stunning landscapes and our unparalleled endurance sports history brings professional triathletes and age groupers from around the world to train and race in Muskoka.
The TriMuskoka Triathlon Club is committed to athlete development through structured training programming that is led by our head coach. Since we have a large seasonal and tourist population, our clubs training opportunities are open to both local and visiting athletes. Every weekend during race season can be filled with something to do. TriMuskoka wants to help you in every way to make your visit as enjoyable and effortless as possible.
We Are Triathlon Country
Founded in 2010 by Rich Trenholm and Kyra Watters, TriMuskoka was established as an advocacy group for endurance athletes and endurance sport tourism in Huntsville and Lake of Bays, Muskoka. TriMuskoka is a volunteer not for profit organization that is passionate about endurance sport training and racing in Muskoka.
We consider ourselves extremely lucky to live and train in an area that people from all over the world come to race, and to take on the “Beauty and the Beast” challenge that our local events offer. Our training ground is literally carved out of the granite hills and valleys, the towering forests, and the expansive freshwater lakes that make Muskoka a haven for endurance sporting events and training. That is why our clubs slogan says it all. We are “Naturally Tough”.
Training on our challenging terrain will make you a tougher athlete, and prepare you to take on any race course in the world. Just ask Mirinda Carfrae and Craig Alexander who uses Muskoka 70.3 as their tune up race before Kona. Every year they competed at and won the 70.3, they went on to win Kona.
We Are Your Host
In addition to club responsibilities, TriMuskoka acts as a liaison for visiting athletes and race directors. We provide assistance with finding places to stay, eat, and train. We also will work with clubs and clinics to plan out their triathlon camps. TriMuskoka works closely with the Huntsville business community, other local sports clubs, volunteer groups and residents, to successfully host races and support endurance training.
Our vision is to provide athletes, spectators, volunteers, and community members with a Canadian sporting experience that is unique to what Muskoka has to offer with its beautiful landscape, challenging terrain, and welcoming community members.
We strive to work with community partners and political bodies to provide a safe training and racing environment, while providing spectators and supporters an engaging community and family experience.
