Equipment to be included in the MSCLE Project fitness Parks

Equipment have the ability to not only allow for structured strength, conditioning, and flexibility exercises, but it additionally be able to have the potential for active play where kids, young and old, can have as much fun as they are reaping the benefits of fitness with specific elements such as obstacle course structures as well as fitness equipment that is multipurpose rather than focussed on the singular exercise that is turning the specific body part

Each stand-alone location would allow for the following elements to be incorporated within the park:

  1. Aerobic fitness via cardiovascular endurance activities

  2. Muscle fitness via strength, resistance, and endurance training

  3. Core fitness and strength

  4. Balance and stability training

  5. Flexibilty training to promote and enhance stability, coordination, and range of motion

  6. Agility and proprioceptive training

These fitness park installations could include but is not exclusive to:

  • Stand-alone park bench fitness stations

  • Bodyweight open-air plyometric and calisthenic stations

  • Parkour-style obstacle structures

  • Anchoring points for system touches TRX, or resistant bands that people could bring with them

  • Rest areas such as park benches or picnic tables

  • Multi sport court areas with integrated outdoor fitness areas for free play, bodyweight exercises, as well as games including basketball, pickleball, tennis, volleyball in the summer months, and a skating rink in the winter months.

  • An opportunity also exists to create an indoor fitness space within the Canada Summit Centre so that fellows that engage in physical exercise within the building that the ability to enhance their efforts with a body weight strength and conditioning program during the winter months as well.

  • An integrated trail system that could connect physical activity and fitness opportunities throughout our community.

  • Converting indoor areas within Town buildings that could activate individuals who would otherwise be inactive.  For example, treadmills or stationary bikes outside the pool viewing area.
